about

This song was improvised in the studio. I had been listening to a lot of Bjork, and going to a Yoga class with really nice music, and those influences were definitely brought to bear.

Essentially, the song was made by layering vocal drones over each other to create subtle harmonic movement, and then filling in some little snatches of melody. There's also a looped sample of dolphin-song, and I used a noise generator (on the KP3), to give a sense of ocean waves.

I wanted to create a mood of stillness, and being settled. I'm not sure if I accomplished that with the song, but I'm very proud of the result, nevertheless.

The Depth Saskatchewan

The forest and the machine. The rational and the emotional. The organic and the technological. The Depth is a union of opposites - a resolution of false dichotomies.
